LIBRARY NEWS
I’ve been reading fairy tales and folk tales to children in Pre-K to grade 4 for the last few weeks during library time.  I am surprised at the number of children who say they don’t know the stories-I usually don’t read the Disney and/or video based versions in an attempt to broaden their horizons.  If you read to your kids regularly, you may want to choose these old tales.  There are many single story versions and also some beautifully illustrated collections available in the public library, on-line, and in local book stores.  Our tiny library has a good collection too.
Just a thought.  Thanks for your consideration, Mrs. Hope

Trinity School Newsletter 3/3/2017

Happy March!  Since it has come in both as a lion and a lamb, I wonder what surprises are in store for the rest of the month??
As you know, Wednesday was Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent.  Pastor Krueger reminded our staff at devotions this morning that even though we are not constantly reminded by the media that Easter is coming, like we are in Advent when Christmas is coming, Jesus is STILL and always IS the Reason for the Season, even more so as we approach His death and resurrection and the fulfillment of God’s salvation promise.  I pray that you are blessed with peace and the assurance of forgiveness as we examine our own sinfulness through this season of Lent.
Back in September, I contacted Camp Pioneer about our end of the year picnic.  We try to schedule it as laste as we can in the year to get the best weather possible.  Even at that time, the only day they had available for us was Wednesday, June 7th.  They have many, many large groups using the facility for days and even a week at a time, so they did the best they could to accommodate us and we appreciate that!
Tomorrow is the annual Character Carnival at the Hub on McKinley from 10 am-3 pm.  We have a table there, as a community awareness opportunity.  Many neighborhood children attend, and you are certainly invited too!  This is not a fundraiser.  It allows the staff and I, who man the table for the day, to speak with parents and children about the program here at Trinity.  We were assigned the word “forgiveness” as our character trait, and we are blessed to share that message with the community tomorrow.
Thank you to all who participated in the PTO meeting last night.  I hope that your thoughts and discussions lead to positive growth and development in the school.  I encourage you to speak with me at any time about your ideas!  It’s encouraging to have bathroom blueprints (finally!) and to know that project will be happening this summer.  Just an FYI-the original plans for the bathrooms would have resulted in an expense of over $50,000.  Our new plans are both beautiful AND financially responsible.
We’re looking forward to the start of our annual fund drive and the role the students get to ‘play’ in it this year!  Starting next week, the children will be asked to collect pennies, or any coins, in an effort to raise $1,000 toward playground equipment!  An ice cream sundae extravaganza will cap off our efforts.  Watch our Facebook page for 4 different playground designs and you can place a vote for your favorite.  Information will be sent home about both events.
God Bless you in your journey through Lent, and we rejoice as we anticipate the cross and empty tomb!
MRS. FRETTHOLD

NO SCHOOL
Friday, March 10, 2017 will be a Professional Staff Development Day so there will be no school for students.

BASKETS
We are asking all families to donate $1.00 so that we can make up baskets for our annual spaghetti dinner!  Please send inby Wednesday, March 8th so that we have time to purchase and assemble.  Thank you!

JUMPING INTO SPRING
All PE classes have started a Jump Rope Unit.  We will be using jump ropes for warm up activities during the next few weeks.  Older students will be learning some fun tricks like partner jumping, criss-cross and long ropes.  I strongly encourage each child to have their own rope to practice with at home.  Jumping rope is a full body workout-it works your legs, abs, arms, heart, and your mind.  It increases strength, agility, speed, timing, and ryhthm.
Happy Jumping,
Noel Anderson, PE/Music

Love, love, love:  it’s in the air!  It’s also our theme for February, because being all about Jesus is being all about love.  Pastor had a great message for the children in Chapel this past Wednesday about love from 1 John 4:15-16.  If you haven’t read the book of 1 John lately, now is the perfect time.  It reminds us what love truly is…”Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.”
Our mission offerings for this quarter will be benefiting St. Luke’s Mission and Food Bank.  Please encourage your children to remember their chapel offerings, no matter how small, to support this worthy outreach.
Once again, I’m sorry about the postponement of our Valentine’s Day Dance.  An April date is being considered, and you’ll know as soon as details are tied up.  Thank you for your understanding!  Thank you too, for your participation in worship and Taste of Trinity last Sunday.  Your presence was certainly enjoyed and appreciated.  Enjoy the weekend, please attend worship, and in these very unsettled and confusing times, keep the love of Christ foremost in your hearts and actions.  That is the key to lasting peace.
MRS. FRETTHOLD

VOLLEYBALL COACH
Trinity School is in need of a volleyball coach.  Our 6th-8th graders need a coach for this year’s volleyball season.  Practices typically start after Winter Break (end of February).  There are typically 2 practices a week until games start, and then one practice a week.  Games start in March and end mid-April.  Please consider coaching if you have a love for kids and an interest in volleyball.  Contact Katie Willert at the school or by email at kwillert@thinktrinitychristian.com if you are interested or have more questions!

Happy National Lutheran Schools Week!  We had a great time with all of our “Upon This Rock” activities this week.  Thank you so much for all of your help and support in making this week a success.  Of course, Sunday is the final wrap up with singing in worship and Taste of Trinity.  I’m looking forward to sharing those exceptional events with you.
It has been such a blessing to receive so many re-enrollment forms already.  I’m glad so many of you are taking advantage of the lower enrollment fee in January.  You’ve still got two days, if you haven’t gotten them in yet!
I’m so proud of our staff for all of the work they did for NLSW, preparing report cards in the midst of it all, AND presenting themselves and our school so beautifully at the Open House.  The several visiting families had big smiles on their faces as they toured!  WE are truly blessed to have these loving and hardworking servants of Christ here at Trinity.

Trinity School Newsletter 1/20/17

There is a verse in Daniel (2:20-21) that I’d like to share with you on this momentous day in our US history.  “Praise be to the name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power are His.  He changes times and seasons; He sets up kings and deposes them.  He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.”  No matter what your political leanings, we are called upon by God to respect those in authority (4th commandment).  We know that He has placed them there for His purposes, which are so far beyond our understanding we simply step forward in faith and trust, striving to be a light, an example of His love.
Lutheran Schools Week is here!  Preparations are frantically underway among the teachers, from devotions to projects to activities to snacks.  Our theme for this year is “Upon This Rock.”  Each day we examine a different Biblical reference about Jesus as our Rock.  That is such an important message today!  Oir mission focus for the week is the Upper Room Orphanage in haiti, so our chapel offerings, the proceeds from the craft sale, cards, artwork and a video os us all singing “Jesus Loves Me’ in Haitian Creole will make their way to Haiti.
We REALLY need some helpers for set-up and clean-up for Taste of Trinity.  It’s such an awesome event, but takes a lot of ma (and woman) power to make it a success.  Please give the office a call to sign up.
For your information, the results are back from our water testing for lead.  We are well below the legal limit at all points in the building.  God is good!  Our children are safe and no new plumbing is necessary.  Spread the word about our Open House on Thursday, 1/26 from 5-7 pm!  Its focus is Preschool, but all teachers will be here and all classrooms open.  Word of mouth is our best advertising, as you know, so please help us out!  Like and share the post on our Facebook page about the Open House, and I’m looking forward to seeing you soon!

Trinity School Newsletter 1/13/17

Hello, families and friends!  Excitement is mounting as National Lutheran Schools Week approaches!  The theme for this year is “Upon This Rock”, which ties beautifully with our school theme of “It’s All About Jesus.”  You will be receiving an informational page next Monday both via email and hard copy, so keep a look out.  You’ll want to start thinking about costumes, etc…!  The students will be singing in church on the Sunday AFTER the week, 1/29, and that’s also Taste of Trinity day.  We always need help with set-up and clean-up for that event, as well as ticket sales and shopping.  Please call the school office or let us know when you can help out.  Thank you!
Information about our Annual Family Valentine’s Day Dance will be coming home soon, too.  Will you invite your friends to join us?  This year we will be benefiting the new SPCA here in West Seneca, scheduled to open in March.  We’ll have the “photo booth”, snacks, music and activities.  Our PTO is taking the reins for this event, so again, please let us know how you’d like to help out.  This is such a fun event that the children really look forward to each year, and your involvement makes it even better.
Please tell your family and friends about Trinity.  Our wonderful school has been growing steadily, and we want to continue this trend, by God’s grace, for years to come.  Word of mouth is our best resource (after prayer, of course!) and I hope that you will help reach as many families as we can with the saving Word.  Remember to re-enroll before the registration fee increases at the end of January!  God Bless you, dear friends, as you strive to do His will for our children.

Thank you for the many “extras” that you’ve provided this Advent to allow our students to celebrate with joy, too. Advent Vespers, Fox Run, crafts, costumes, treats, gifts, the Christmas Celebration on Wednesday, our breakfast today, all of these things and more have made it a memorable and meaningful time for the children and the staff. Thank you. Your generosity with gifts for the teachers and me was most appreciated, as well!

We’re so proud of our Alleluia Choir and their beautiful witness at the annual Advent Vespers service last Sunday. Even while standing in front of several hundred people, with the mass choir sitting right behind them, they sang their Advent praises with joy. Thank you to Noel Anderson, director, and Tracy Gerardi, accompanist, for their hard work and dedication to the children. The Alleluia Choir, and the rest of the student body too, will be singing those and other Advent/Christmas songs at Advent worship here at church at 7pm on 12/14. Some will be on instruments, as well. Refreshments to follow- come and join us!

All of the Angels have flown (again!) from our Tree in the school lobby, and I know that they were gone immediately at the church, too. Thank you so much for your generosity to the children in these residential homes. They depend entirely on the kindness of others for any Christmas gifts whatsoever, so you know that your gift will be truly appreciated.
Re-enrollment begins this month, and we are already praying for growth! Our prayers in the fall – do you remember? 75-10-15 (students, Kindergarteners, preschoolers) – have been answered and surpassed! We are so thankful that God has blessed our school and church in this way. As enrollment begins again, please pray that He will continue to lead families to our school, that we may “Guide our children in faith, learning, character and leadership by nurturing their relationship with Jesus Christ and educating them for a lifetime of service to God and man,” as we have been doing for so many years, praise God!
